Associate Scientist
Our Mission: Developing curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

At Intellia, we are committed to solving the complex challenges of making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to create novel engineered cell therapies for immuno-oncological and autoimmune diseases.

Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop curative therapeutics using CRISPR/Cas9 technology for gene editing to achieve effective immunotherapy. Conduct in vivo and in vitro studies. Execute in vivo CRISPR screens to discover novel immunotherapy targets. Perform in vitro and in vivo cell lines characterization and validation of models and targets. Interrogate tumor microenvironments in different tumor models by dissecting the crosstalk between tumors and immune system and studying engineered T cell efficacy in various mouse models. Involved in experimental design, integrated data analysis and interpretations, and daily lab maintenance, including assisting in maintaining records for our vivarium and lab. These job responsibilities require various techniques and skill sets like mice handling, including bleeding, subcutaneous, intravenous, and intraperitoneal injections with tumor xenografts; monitoring excision, and necropsy; cell culturing, multi- color flow cytometry, cytokine profiling (MSD- ELISA), IVIS, western blotting, immune cell isolation, CFSE proliferation assay, T cell or NK cell activation/cytotoxic killing assays, and magnetic cell separation of CD4+/ CD8+ T cell transduction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnology, Biotechnology, or a directly related field plus two (2) years of hands-on laboratory training experience.

Must have two (2) years of experience with each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Experience with animal handling, breeding, tumor implanting, or measurement

  • Experience with multi-color flow cytometry to analyze T cell or tumor cells phenotypically and functionally

  • Hands-on experience with animal work, including animal imaging or breeding and i.p., i.v. and s.c. injection

Must have one (1) year of experience with each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Using ELISA to analyze T cell functionally and assess the exhaustion status of T cells

  • Experience with cell culture to establish tumor models to dissect the crosstalk between tumor and immune system

  • Experience in laboratory techniques, including western blotting or RT-PCR

  • Experience with transfection and transduction

  • Evaluating engineered T cell efficacy in mouse models

  • Developing efficient and robust screening protocols

  • Planning and executing experience to drive hypothesis-driven in vivo and in vitro experiments
