Nucleic Acid Therapeutics:
Associate Scientist

Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How You Will Achieve More With Intellia:

Support nucleic acid process efforts including process optimization, scale-up, and characterization. Assess process robustness of every unit operation in current process. Design, oversee and execute experiments to find process improvements. Use knowledge of enzymatic reaction and RNA biochemistry skills to determine how to properly set up mRNA (drug substance) synthesis system in reactor. Use knowledge of Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) principles for purification of mRNA. Use analytical tools such as Ultra/High Performance Liquid Chromatography (U/HPLC) for mRNA capped rate determinations, fragment analyzer for mRNA purity measurements, solo VPE for mRNA concentration determinations, electrophoresis based analytics for mRNA pol(A) tail length determination as well as residual proteins assay in mRNA, qPCR based analytics for residual plasmid determination in mRNA. Provide high quality, well characterized material for in vitro and in vivo evaluation. Conduct experiments independently, and in collaboration with colleagues in support of project goals. Communicate research and development findings with internal and external partners including but not limited to contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs). Operate and maintain multiple laboratory instruments. Assist in maintaining general laboratory functionality, including lab equipment maintenance and the ordering and receiving of lab supplies. Responsible for lab oversight and mentorship of junior employees.
