How you will Achieve More with Intellia:
Intellia is searching for an experienced Director of Computational Sciences to support and build the design and implementation of computational tools and analysis to support the development of genome editing-based therapeutics. In this essential role, you will lead a team of computational scientists working cross-functionally to support research and development programs. This is a highly visible leadership position interacting across R&D as well as engage in regulatory interactions.
Support the development of genome editing based therapeutics through the design and implementation of computational tools and analyses
Serve as functional representative on cell therapy and in vivo programs teams responsible for the execution of on- and off-target data packages to support development candidate nomination through regulatory filing
Grow and maintain a high-performing team including hiring, training, staff assignment, coaching, mentoring, developing relevant metrics, and performance management.
Maintain a culture focused on collaboration, innovation, teamwork, and communication
Manage, lead, and mentor a team of talented/motivated computational scientists
Function as subject matter expert in the Computational Biology group and the wider organization
Utilize computational methods to analyze, integrate and visualize genomic data
Lead the build-out of novel bioinformatic pipelines to process large amounts of NGS/screening data and apply or develop data-mining tools to mine large data sets
Leverage internal/external data with machine learning and AI to develop and improve prediction algorithms
Leverage -omic data sets, clinical data, and computational approaches to support and guide clinical development programs as well as to enable ongoing target discovery efforts
Partner with research leads to assess computational needs across all functions including chemistry, gene editing, pharmacology, immunology, and disease biology
Implement data integrity and code review processes
BS/MS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field with 15 years of industry experience OR Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field with 10 years of industry experience
Demonstrated ability to write code in one of the following programming languages C/C++, Python, R
Familiar with Linux and shell scripting/bash
Familiar with cloud-based computing environments, preferably Amazon Web Service
Familiar with popular bioinformatics databases and tools
Experience with databases is a plus
Experience with web development is a plus

You will lead a critical core function of talented, innovative, passionate computational scientists partnering with genomics, screening, software engineering, and automation to build custom solutions for data interpretation, visualization, and innovation. We are accountable for enabling our programs in early research to reach development candidate nomination through regulatory filing and into clinical trials as well as support our internal platform optimization efforts in both the in vivo and cell therapy space.
In this key leadership role, you will report directly to the Senior Director, AEGIS (Automation, Engineering, Genomics, Informatics, and Screening), who instills a culture of teamwork, respect, inclusion, collaboration, and communication ensuring that each team member strives to reach their professional and personal potential.
