How you will Achieve More with Intellia:

We are looking for a Manager, Cost Accounting to join our growing Finance and Accounting team.  In this role, you will develop and maintain cost information for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods across Intellia’s complex supply chain, acting as the Finance liaison to the Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams.  You will also play a vital role in the implementation of our internal inventory ERP accounting system and internal manufacturing facility.  You will prepare journal entries and related support for inventory, cost of goods sold, revenue, collaborations, and other R&D accruals as necessary in accordance with US GAAP.  Additional role responsibilities include:

  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and other monthly & quarterly close and SOX procedures

  • Assist in the identification and implementation of new systems, upgrades, and automation of accounting processes

  • Develop standard and activity-based costing for raw materials, key components, and finished manufactured goods for each of Intellia’s development and product candidates

  • Ensure billing compliance with various collaboration supply agreements

  • Maintain costs across Intellia’s complex supply chain as manufacturing processes optimize and scale

  • Work with FP&A to ensure up-to-date budgets and forecasts are loaded into the ERP system and develop reports to capture budget vs actual information for internal reporting

  • Collaborate with the R&D team on the build-out of inventory accounting systems (both internal and external manufacturing) and processes, as well as maintaining an accurate bill of materials for all development and product candidates

  • Work cross-functionally to implement policies and proposed accounting treatment for new business transactions

  • Support internal and external auditors in their annual audit, quarterly review, and SOX review procedures

  • Cross-train on different areas of accounting for others on the Finance and Accounting team to serve as a backup

About You:

We are looking for a team player to join our group, someone who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.  A BS/BA in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years overall accounting experience, including experience in Cost Accounting is also required.   • Biotech/Life Sciences experience either in industry or exposure through public accounting (commercial experience a plus)

  • CPA and/or MBA highly preferred

  • Experience with cost accounting in a complex supply chain environment

  • Must have a strong work ethic and be able to meet critical deadlines

  • Enjoy solving intricate problems and working in a fast-paced and growing environment

  • Ability to travel periodically (less travel likely early on, up to 15-20 % down the road)

  • Intellectual curiosity to learn about business operations beyond scope of role

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Accounting and works directly with the other members of the close-knit finance and accounting team.  While a small team of 6, you will join a group of passionate individuals who enjoy working with one another.  Led by the CFO, the broader group is comprised of Financial Reporting and Internal Controls, Equity and Payroll, Procurement, FP&A and Strategic Sourcing, IT, Investor Relations, Corporate Communications, Facility Operations, and Program Management.

Currently, we have team members in both hybrid and remote capacities, so we will not require you to be local to our Cambridge, MA office.  Although in a partially virtual environment, the Accounting team has made it a priority to continue to foster a sense of community among the group.  You can expect to join a passionate, hardworking, and collaborative environment.
