Why Join Intellia?
Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.
Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.
We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.
How You Will Achieve More With Intellia:
Intellia is seeking an experienced Principal Scientist to join our protein purification team. In this role, you will purify recombinant proteins, derived from either mammalian or bacterial cells, to be used as reagents across the research organization. Other responsibilities include:
Provide expertise in the area of protein biochemistry
Purify proteins using a variety of chromatographic methods
Characterize proteins with various analytical methods
Work at the lab bench, advising fellow scientists and providing feedback
Present information and data to cross functional teams and the larger organization
Stay up to date on literature in related research areas (immuno-oncology, Crispr)
About You:
Do you have knowledge and an understanding of common chromatographic methods used for isolating proteins? As a Principal Scientist, you will need to have a solid background in protein chemistry and characterization methods. Good communication skills and an ability to collaborate across functional areas is essential. Other required skills include:
Common chromatographic methods for protein purification (IMAC, Streptactin, protein A, AEX, CEX, HIC and preparative SEC)
Common protein analytical methods: SDS-PAGE, western blot, SEC-MALLS, DLS, analytical SEC, RP-HPLC, IEX-HPLC, Octet
Experience with ELISA and LAL
Organized, self-starter with demonstrated problem-solving skills
Continuously seeks to improve existing scientific processes
Detail oriented, with strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with Benchling is a plus
E. coli expression experience is a plus
Mammalian expression experience is a plus (Expi-293 or Expi-CHO)
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in life sciences (chemistry, biochemistry, biology or related area of study) with > 15 years of purification experience or
Master of Science degree in life sciences with >10 years of purification experience or
PhD degree in life sciences with >5 years of purification experience
