Why Join Intellia?
Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.
Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.
We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.
How you will Achieve More with Intellia:
Intellia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated RNA Scientist to join our growing team. In this role, you will discover and develop technologies for in vitro transcribed mRNA production, purification and optimization for applications in the CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing system. In addition, you will be working closely with the guide RNA team to design and chemically modify guide RNA to improved potency and develop bio-chemical assays to understand the interaction of modified guide RNA with protein. Other responsibilities include:
Discover and develop new bench-scale, scalable processes for generating mRNA, and assist in transferring protocols to production group and/or CROs
Explore and develop new techniques for generating higher potency mRNA through avenues such as increasing stability, expression efficiency, etc.
Assist in analytical development for in vitro transcribed mRNA to reach the above-described aims
Develop biochemical assays for mRNA
Design, implement, and troubleshoot experiments, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues, to reach desired goals
Communicate research and development findings with internal and external partners
Understanding of nucleic acid modifications
Work closely with guide RNA team in evaluating new chemical modifications and develop biochemical assays
Develop RNA technologies pertaining to therapeutics and understanding the biological consequences of synthetic modified RNAs.
About You:
We are looking for a collaborative and detailed-oriented Scientist to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have familiarity with nucleic acid, particularly RNA, chemistry, structure, and manipulation. If you bring a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biochemical or Chemical engineering or related discipline with at least 4-6 years of post-PhD experience, we encourage you to apply! Other requirements include:
Experience in biomolecule separations and method development using FPLC, HPLC, and/or UPLC.
Experience with assay development for nucleic acids (e.g. electrophoresis, enzyme reactions, and/or PCR).
Experience in developing bio-chemical assays for mechanistic understanding.
