Why Join Intellia?
Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.
Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.
We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.
How you will Achieve More with Intellia:
We are hiring a motivated Research Associate to join our growing team. In this role, you will assist with in vitro experiments in primary hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, and in vivo assays focused on the development of gene editing therapies for hematologic diseases. You will help us to execute Intellia’s gene-editing programs and be involved in the execution and interpretation of experiments. You will interface regularly with colleagues in the Disease Biology lab as well as in other teams. Additional role requirements include:
Assist in experiments to apply our hepatic genome editing platform to develop new therapies for diseases of the liver
Optimize new protocols for engineering primary cells and cell lines
Develop molecular biology detection and quantification techniques, such as Western blots, ddPCR, ELISA
Assist scientists with animal takedowns and tissue processing
Conduct experiments independently and in collaboration with team colleagues
Maintain highly detailed, up-to-date records of all experiments conducted
Communicate research and development findings with internal and external partners
About You:
Are you passionate about science, with strong time management experience, communication, and presentation skills? Candidates interested in applying should have a bachelor's degree in biological sciences. Knowledge in primary cell culture (such as thawing, cell expansion, cell counts, lot-to-lot comparison, media preparation) and knowledge in molecular biology skills (such as DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, agarose gels, protein lysates) are required. Additional role requirements include:
Cell perturbation experience – transfection, transduction, electroporation, etc.
Cell-based extraction methods including DNA, RNA, and protein extractions
Plate-based assay experience – colorimetric assays, ELISAs, MSD, etc.
Meet your future team:
The Disease Biology team is a group of bright, fun and team-first individuals. Your future hiring manager is the Vice President, Disease Biology. Having spent nearly 6 years with Intellia, the hiring manager is very knowledgeable on the company’s history and mission. Your future team is a group of dedicated individuals, driven to change patients’ lives. As we build our team, we’re excited to work with people who share our commitment and energy to making a difference.
The team is currently working mostly onsite. Therefore, we hope you are currently local to Cambridge MA, or that you are open to relocating. While much of the day-to-day operations require wet-lab work, our team is focused on building not just technical expertise but fostering an environment for growth of scientists interested in a career in therapeutic biotechnology. If you join our team, you can expect to join a fast, exciting, and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and building a larger team together.
