Research & Early Development:
Senior Associate Scientist

Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How You Will Achieve More With Intellia:

Design, perform and troubleshoot experiments to establish novel genome editing tools that can treat human diseases.  Screen different guide RNA sequences to identify those with high on-target activity and editing specificity. Perform functional assays in engineered T cells including cytotoxicity, flow cytometry and measurements of cytokine secretion. Evaluate different gene editing strategies in primary human T cells and other cell lines to identify safer approaches that result in reduced levels of unwanted off-target mutations or genomic instability. Maintain laboratory equipment. Assist in the preparation of materials for intellectual property fillings. Order and receive supplies. Record experimental results in a timely manner. Present data to key stakeholders within the company.

About You:

Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Immunology, or a related field plus four (4) years of experience as a Biological Scientist or related occupation.

Must have at least two (2) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Experience with isolation of primary human T cells from peripheral blood

  • Experience with culture and maintenance of primary cells and immortalized cell lines, including but not limited to primary human T cells

  • Experience with CRISPR genome editing and the use of adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) as templates for homology-directed repair

  • Experience with different plasmid/mRNA/protein delivery methodologies including but not limited to transfection and electroporation

  • Experience with phenotypic characterization of cells by multicolor flow cytometry

  • Experience with genotypic characterization of cells by next generation sequencing

Must have one (1) year of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Experience with high throughput liquid handling/robotics systems

  • Experience with preparation of scientific materials for intellectual property filings

  • Experience with cross-functional collaborations with internal colleagues to provide support for platform projects and method transfers
