Why Join Intellia?
Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.
Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.
We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.
An exciting opportunity for an immunologist is available in the Translational Immuno-Oncology group at Intellia Therapeutics- where we leverage top-notch CRISPR technology to fully unleash the power of cell-based therapy for Immuno-Oncology. An ideal candidate is an immunologist with a background in T cell biology or cancer immunology with experience in translational research or a working knowledge of cell therapies for the treatment of cancer.
Intellia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist for our Translational Immuno-Oncology group to enable our cell therapy programs utilizing CRISPR gene editing. The primary responsibility for this position is the design, optimization, and execution of immunology and molecular assays to support translational research and biomarker discovery efforts for Intellia’s cell therapy programs.
Assist with assay development and optimization of immunoassays and in vitro cell-based assays to support translational research efforts
Conduct translational research for biomarker discovery and tumor microenvironment assessment
Help with in vivo experiments in preclinical models to answer key translational questions
Implement and troubleshoot experiments, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues, to reach desired goals.
Maintain highly detailed, up-to-date records of all experiments conducted
Communicate research and development findings with internal and external partners
Experience with multi-color flow cytometry and cell isolation techniques (e.g. FACS)
Expertise with human immune cell types. Prior work with human tumor cell lines is desired.
Experience with relevant approaches, including in vitro profiling by flow cytometry and functional assays to assess T cell proliferation and cytotoxicity, ADCC, and cytokine profiling
Proficiency with cytokine detection assays (e.g. ELISA, Luminex, or MSD)
Basic molecular biology skills required (e.g. RNA or DNA isolation, qPCR). Advanced skills, including experience with sample preparation for NGS approaches, is highly desired
Demonstrated understanding and experience with in vivo tumor models, or a strong willingness to learn
Working knowledge of immunology, oncology, and cell therapies is highly preferred
Experience working with human primary cells or patient derived samples is highly desired
Prior experience within a translational research or biomarker development setting is a plus
Position will be hired based on level of experience. M.S. or B.S. in immunology, cell biology or related field with 1-2 (M.S.) or 2-5 (B.S.) years research experience. At least 1 year of industry experience is highly preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work efficiently and productively in a highly dynamic, scientifically rigorous and fast-paced environment
