Why Join Intellia?
Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.
Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.
We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.
How you can achieve more with Intellia:
As a formulation expert, you will join the Delivery Sciences team, where we are developing cutting-edge CRISPR Nanoparticle technology to fully unleash the power of gene-editing therapeutics for hepatic and other tissue types for various disease indications. You will be responsible for developing nanoparticle-based formulations across various scales and for characterization using both routine and advanced analytical methods. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of experiments, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues, to reach desired goals. Other main responsibilities include:
Support formulation efforts for delivery of nucleic acids, including optimization and characterization to provide high quality, well-characterized nanoparticles for in vitro and in vivo evaluation
Conduct experiments, independently and in collaboration with colleagues to support projects
Optimize existing formulation methods and processes and generate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test method documents
Communicate research and development findings with internal and external partners
Operate instruments and assist in maintaining general laboratory functionality, including lab equipment maintenance and the ordering, and receiving of lab supplies
Are you a formulation expert with a strong interest in growing into a nucleic acid/lipid nanoparticle specialist? Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences with 0-2 years of industry experience or M.S. in Engineering, Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences. If you describe yourself as a great team player who wants to have fun and grow with us, we encourage you to apply! Other desired skills include:
Comfortable with buffer exchange (TFF) purification process, if possible for LNPs
Experience with analytical techniques relevant for characterizing nanoparticles, preferably LNPs (particle size, etc.)
Preferably has one year of experience with novel drug delivery systems including lipid nanoparticles
Experience with preparation of nanoparticle-based formulations preferably at different scales sufficient to support in vitro and in vivo studies (rodents)
Attention to details, exceptional time management, effective communication skills (both written and oral), ability to work independently and collaboratively
Meet your future team:
The Delivery Science team is a group of bright, fun, and team-first individuals. We are eager to move innovative projects forward and motivated to deliver gene-editing technology to patients in need. In this role, you will report to a Principal Scientist, Delivery Science who is overseeing multiple high-priority lipid nanoparticle gene-editing projects. The breadth of our cutting-edge programs will provide you with exposure to our full spectrum of gene and cell-based therapies which we are confident will have a profoundly positive impact on the lives of patients. Did we mention you’ll be joining a team that is driving the CRISPR nanoparticle technology research all the way through to its development (which is the greatest opportunity for becoming an expert in the formulation science field)?!
The team is currently working mostly onsite in a wet-lab environment. Therefore, we strongly prefer that you are currently local to Cambridge MA, or that you are open to relocating. While much of the day-to-day operations require wet-lab work, our team is focused on building not just technical expertise but in maintaining an environment that fosters career development and growth opportunities for researchers and scientists. If you join our team, you can expect to join a fast-paced, fun, exciting, and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and building a larger team together.
