Cell Therapy:
Senior Research Associate, Target Discovery

Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How you will Achieve More with Intellia?

Intellia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Associate to join our Target Discovery team. Your career and where you want to go is important to us. In this role, you will help develop Intellia’s novel cell therapy products. You will make an impact by generating tools for target discovery and performing unique screens in vitro and in vivo to find new ways to enhance the performance of engineered cell therapies for cancer.  Working closely with team members, you’ll learn new approaches, execute experiments, perform analyses, and present your work to the larger group.  Additional responsibilities include:

  • Helping the team find better ways to treat cancer by developing in vivo tumor models and performing target discovery screens

  • Providing cell culture and molecular biology support, learning new techniques on the job

  • Collaborating with colleagues to implement and troubleshoot experiments to generate great science

  • Analyzing and presenting great data while keeping a good electronic notebook

  • Supporting the development of new technologies and innovative approaches that aid in generating novel discoveries

What you will bring to the table:

We are looking for a candidate with a BS/MS degree in Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Immunology, or related discipline, with relevant experience in an academic or industrial setting. The ideal candidate thrives on working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, displays outstanding communication skills, and is passionate about pioneering new gene-editing technologies to treat cancer. Additional role requirements include:

  • Experience with aseptic mammalian cell culture in various formats

  • Animal handling experience, including various injection techniques, is required

  • Ability to perform multiple work streams simultaneously

Meet your future team:

The Target Discovery group is a collaborative, energetic, and passionate group of individuals that discover novel gene editing targets to improve cell therapies.  The group also works very closely with the Immuno-Oncology team to develop new treatments for cancer.  Given the breadth of work on both teams, the candidate will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of areas across all ex vivo platforms and programs.

The teams are currently working mostly onsite to achieve the company goals, and this SRA role is local to Cambridge, MA. While much of the day-to-day operations require vivarium and lab duties, our team is focused on building not just technical expertise but fostering an environment for the growth of young scientists interested in a career in biotech. If you join our team, you can expect to join a hardworking and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and building a larger team that will make a difference in patients' lives.
